Cost-Effective Branding
Vinyl graphics deliver high visual impact at a fraction of the cost of fabricated signs. Transform storefronts, vehicles, and walls without major construction.
From storefront window graphics to full vehicle wraps and large-format wall murals, vinyl graphics transform any surface into a branded communication tool. We design, print, and install vinyl solutions using premium 3M and Avery materials rated for 7+ years of outdoor durability in Southern California conditions.
Case-by-case — we quote firm after a site visit or artwork review.
Pricing is case-by-case. Every vinyl graphics project is custom — square footage, material (cast vs calendered vinyl), installation complexity, surface type — all affect cost. We provide a firm quote after a site visit or artwork review.
Permits are a fixed $1,500 — our flat fee for permit runners, drawings, and city coordination. City fees (plan check, inspection, use permits) are billed at cost with zero markup and paid directly by the client. See Sign Permits for the full policy. Vinyl graphics on private interior surfaces typically do not require a permit.
Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks for production after artwork approval. Complex installs may add time; we tell you upfront.
Vinyl graphics encompass a broad category of signage products that use adhesive-backed vinyl film to display text, images, logos, and decorative elements on virtually any smooth surface. The category includes everything from simple cut vinyl lettering on a glass door to full-color digitally printed wall murals spanning entire building facades, and from individual window decals to complete vehicle wraps that transform a plain work van into a mobile billboard.
What makes vinyl graphics uniquely valuable in the commercial signage world is their combination of versatility, affordability, and impact. No other sign type can be applied to as many different surfaces — glass, painted walls, metal panels, vehicle bodies, concrete barriers, floor tiles, and more — while delivering the same visual punch as a permanently fabricated sign at a fraction of the cost and installation time.
At Genius Signs & Lighting Corp, we produce vinyl graphics in-house using commercial-grade wide-format printers and precision computer-controlled cutting plotters. We stock a full range of premium vinyl films from 3M and Avery Dennison, including cast films for long-term exterior applications, calendered films for short-term promotions, perforated window films for see-through graphics, and specialty finishes including metallic, matte, gloss, and textured surfaces.
Window graphics are one of the most cost-effective ways to brand a retail storefront, communicate hours and services, and create visual privacy without sacrificing natural light. We produce window graphics in several formats, each suited to different applications and performance requirements.
Applied to the outside of the glass, first-surface graphics provide the sharpest visual appearance because there is no glass layer between the viewer and the graphic. They are the preferred method when maximum color vibrancy and readability are priorities. The trade-off is increased exposure to weather, UV, and physical contact, so we exclusively use premium 3M or Avery cast vinyl with UV-protective overlaminate for exterior window applications.
Applied to the inside of the glass with the printed face against the glass, second-surface graphics are protected from weather and vandalism by the glass itself. The graphic is printed in reverse so it reads correctly from outside. This method is standard for retail storefronts, restaurant windows, and any location where the graphics need to last longer with less maintenance exposure.
Perforated vinyl (often called one-way vision or see-through vinyl) is printed on a film full of tiny holes — typically 50/50 or 60/40 open area. From outside, the printed image appears solid and vibrant. From inside, occupants can see through the perforations clearly. This makes perforated vinyl ideal for full-window coverage that maintains interior visibility and natural light — popular for restaurants that want to brand their entire window frontage without blocking diners’ views.
Vehicle wraps transform cars, trucks, vans, trailers, and specialty vehicles into mobile advertising that generates thousands of impressions every day. Industry studies estimate that a single wrapped vehicle generates between 30,000 and 70,000 daily impressions depending on driving routes and metropolitan area density — making vehicle wraps one of the lowest cost-per-impression advertising mediums available.
We use 3M IJ180Cv3 and Avery Dennison MPI 1105 cast vinyl films for vehicle wraps — the industry standard for conformable, repositionable vehicle wrap films with air-release adhesive technology. These films conform to the compound curves, recesses, and panel lines of modern vehicle bodies without lifting, wrinkling, or cracking. Finished with 3M 8520 or equivalent UV-protective overlaminate, a professionally installed vehicle wrap maintains its appearance for 5 to 7 years under normal driving conditions in Southern California.
Our wrap services range from spot graphics (logo and contact information on doors and tailgate) to partial wraps (selected body panels) to full wraps (complete vehicle coverage). We also produce fleet graphics for commercial operators who need consistent branding across multiple vehicles with efficient rollout timelines.
Vinyl wall murals bring interior and exterior walls to life with branded imagery, decorative patterns, wayfinding graphics, or full-bleed photography. We print large-format graphics on adhesive vinyl or non-adhesive fabric wallcoverings depending on the surface type and application requirements.
For interior walls, we typically use repositionable adhesive vinyl or woven fabric wallcovering that applies cleanly to painted drywall and removes without surface damage. For exterior murals, we use high-tack permanent vinyl with UV-protective overlaminate rated for the harsh Southern California sun. We have produced wall murals up to 40 feet wide as single-panel seamless installations, and larger murals are paneled with overlapping seams that become invisible once installed.
Cut vinyl lettering remains the most common and cost-effective method for displaying business names, hours, suite numbers, ADA-required signage, and regulatory text on glass doors, windows, and interior walls. Letters are precision-cut from solid-colored vinyl film and applied individually using transfer tape for consistent spacing and alignment.
We maintain a library of standard sign fonts and can match any typeface specified by your brand guidelines. Vinyl lettering is available in hundreds of solid colors, as well as metallic gold, silver, bronze, and brushed finishes for a premium appearance. For applications requiring precise brand color matching, we can print solid-color vinyl from custom PMS or CMYK specifications.
The quality and longevity of vinyl graphics depend entirely on the materials and print technology used. At Genius Signs, we invest in premium materials and commercial-grade equipment because the cost difference between quality and economy vinyl is minimal compared to the dramatic difference in real-world performance and lifespan.
Cast Vinyl (3M IJ180, Avery MPI 1105): Cast films are manufactured by spreading liquid vinyl compound onto a casting sheet, producing a thin, conformable film that resists shrinking and cracking. Cast vinyl is rated for 7 to 12 years of outdoor life and is required for vehicle wraps and any application involving compound curves.
Calendered Vinyl: Calendered films are produced by rolling vinyl compound through a series of heated rollers. They are thicker, less conformable, and less expensive than cast films. Calendered vinyl is suitable for flat surface applications like window graphics, wall murals on smooth walls, and short-term promotional graphics with a 3 to 5 year outdoor life expectancy.
Perforated Vinyl: Perforated window film features a pattern of tiny holes (typically 50/50 or 60/40 perforation) that allow see-through visibility from inside while displaying a solid printed image from outside. We use 3M IJ8150 and comparable premium perforated films for all window applications.
We print on commercial-grade wide-format eco-solvent and UV-curable inkjet printers with a maximum print width of 64 inches. Our printers produce photographic-quality output at up to 1440 DPI, with accurate color reproduction using CMYK plus light cyan and light magenta ink channels. All printed graphics receive a UV-protective overlaminate (gloss, matte, or satin finish) that adds scratch resistance and extends outdoor color life by 30% to 50%.
