Front Lit Channel Letters — The Most Popular Business Sign in Los Angeles
Individually fabricated aluminum letters with translucent acrylic faces and premium LEDs. Designed, built, and installed by the same team under one roof in Gardena — so your sign ships on time, matches your brand exactly, and passes inspection the first try.
What Are Front Lit Channel Letters?
Three-dimensional, individually fabricated letters where LED light shines through a translucent acrylic face. Readable by day, bright at night, and approved by virtually every landlord and jurisdiction in Southern California.
Anatomy of a front lit letter
Every letter is a self-contained, watertight illuminated enclosure. Four components do all the work — and we control the quality of each one in-house.
-
1
Translucent acrylic face
Plaskolite/Acrylite panel cut to the letter shape. Color-matched to your brand; 3/16" standard thickness.
-
2
Aluminum returns & back
0.040"–0.063" aluminum, CNC cut and formed. Painted with Mathews Paint for exact PMS color match.
-
3
Premium LED modules
Commercial-grade, UL Listed LEDs on a calculated grid for even illumination. Rated 50,000–100,000 hours.
-
4
UL Listed power supply
Low-voltage DC driver, concealed in raceway or building wall. Every electrical component is UL Listed.
What Front Lit Channel Letters Cost in LA
Case-by-case — we quote firm after a site visit or artwork review.
Pricing is case-by-case. Every front-lit channel letter project is custom — letter count, size, illumination type, mounting method — all affect cost. We provide a firm quote after a site visit or artwork review.
Permits are a fixed $1,500 — our flat fee for permit runners, drawings, and city coordination. City fees (plan check, inspection, use permits) are billed at cost with zero markup and paid directly by the client. See Sign Permits for the full policy.
Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks for production after permit approval. Complex fabrication may add time; we tell you upfront.
Three Ways to Mount a Channel Letter Set
The right mounting method depends on your facade material, wall access, and landlord design review. We evaluate every jobsite before recommending an approach.
Raceway Mount
Letters attached to a painted aluminum box holding all wiring. Fewer wall penetrations, faster install, approved on nearly every stucco or masonry facade in LA County. Most common method.
Direct (Flush) Mount
Each letter individually attached to the wall with concealed studs; wiring runs through the wall behind each letter. Cleanest look, requires interior wall access. Preferred for high-end retail and corporate HQs.
Backer Panel
Letters mounted to an aluminum background panel, then attached to the building. Creates color contrast, unifies multi-tenant signage, and is the standard for many franchise brand programs.
