Acrylic & PVC Flat Cut-Out Letters — Fast, Clean, Budget-Friendly Interior Branding
Cast acrylic or expanded PVC sheet, CNC-routed or laser-cut to the exact letter shape, finished with paint or digital print, mounted with double-sided tape or threaded pins. The default for reception walls, conference rooms, and trade-show graphics — shipped and installed in 2–3 weeks.
What Are Acrylic / PVC FCO Letters?
Flat cut-out dimensional letters made from cast acrylic sheet or expanded PVC (Sintra/Komatex). Thin profile, feather-light, surgically precise edge. The lowest-risk, fastest-turnaround way to put a branded wordmark on an interior wall.
Anatomy of an acrylic / PVC FCO letter
Lightweight sheet material, a clean-routed edge, a decorated face, and a no-damage mounting method. That's the entire stack — which is exactly why it's fast, flexible, and affordable.

Cast acrylic (optically clear, UV-stable) or expanded PVC (white, opaque, painter's canvas). 1/8" to 1" thicknesses available.

Flame-polished on acrylic for a glassy sheen; square-routed on PVC for a clean matte finish. Either way — zero rough edge.

What Acrylic / PVC FCO Letters Cost in LA
Case-by-case — we quote firm after a site visit or artwork review.
Pricing is case-by-case. Every Acrylic / PVC FCO letter project is custom — letter count, height, material (acrylic vs PVC), finish, mounting method — all affect cost. We provide a firm quote after a site visit or artwork review.
Permits are a fixed $1,500 — our flat fee for permit runners, drawings, and city coordination. City fees (plan check, inspection, use permits) are billed at cost with zero markup and paid directly by the client. See Sign Permits for the full policy.
Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks for production after permit approval. Complex fabrication may add time; we tell you upfront.
Three Ways to Mount Acrylic / PVC Letters
The mounting method sets the budget, the look, and how easy it'll be to remove for your next rebrand.
VHB Double-Sided Tape
3M VHB industrial tape bonded to the back of each letter. No drilling, no tools, no wall damage. Install in 30 minutes, remove cleanly at lease-end. The default for rented office spaces.
Pin Mount
Short threaded pins press into holes drilled on the back of each letter, then into matching holes in the wall. Letters sit 1/8"–1/4" off the wall with a subtle shadow. Crisp, clean, photogenic — no visible hardware on the face.
Standoff (Premium Look)
Polished stainless or painted barrel standoffs hold letters 1/2"–1" off the wall. Visible hardware becomes a design detail, throwing a pronounced shadow and delivering a premium architectural feel at an FCO price.

Crew arrives with full-size paper pattern. Level, mark, tape or drill, place letters. Most interior installs wrap in under 2 hours.
Six Reasons It's the Startup & Office Default
Lowest Cost Dimensional
A third of the cost of aluminum FCO, half the cost of reverse channel. The biggest visual upgrade you can get on a tight office-build budget.
2–3 Week Turnaround
No permits, no engineering, no illumination wiring. From signed proof to lights-on (metaphorically) in 10–15 business days.
Full-Color Logo Reproduction
UV-direct print the face means photographic logos, gradients, halftones — anything you can design, we can reproduce on a letter face.
Rebrand-Friendly
Mounted with VHB tape or small pins — swap wordmarks every couple of years without redoing drywall. Perfect for fast-growing startups.
Lightweight & Low-Impact
Ounces per letter, not pounds. No structural mounting, no anchors — screws and tape both work on standard drywall.
No Permits Required
Non-illuminated interior letters are exempt from sign-code review in every LA-area jurisdiction. Your landlord's approval is the only sign-off needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does FCO stand for in signage?
FCO stands for Flat Cut Out. It refers to dimensional letters and logos that are cut from flat sheet material using a CNC router or laser cutter. Unlike channel letters which are three-dimensional fabricated enclosures with internal illumination, FCO letters are solid-material cutouts with a consistent thickness throughout. They can be made from acrylic, PVC, foam, aluminum, or other sheet materials in various thicknesses, typically ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inches.
Are acrylic letters suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, but material selection matters. Cast acrylic is excellent for outdoor use and resists UV yellowing for many years. PVC (Sintra) performs well outdoors but may yellow slightly over extended periods in direct sun. High-density urethane foam (HDU) is also suitable for exterior applications when properly sealed and painted. We specify the appropriate material based on your installation environment, expected lifespan, and aesthetic requirements.
How are dimensional letters mounted to a wall?
The two most common mounting methods are pin-mount and stud-mount. Pin-mounted letters use small threaded pins inserted into the back of each letter, with corresponding holes drilled in the wall. The pins create a standoff effect where the letters float away from the wall, casting subtle shadows that add depth. Stud-mounted letters use threaded studs with spacers for a larger standoff distance. Flush-mount installation bonds letters directly to the wall with industrial adhesive tape or construction adhesive for a clean, shadow-free appearance.
How much do acrylic or PVC dimensional letters cost?
Pricing is case-by-case — final price depends on letter count, height, material (acrylic vs PVC), finish, mounting method. Permits are a fixed $1,500 flat fee. Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks for production after permit approval. See the pricing section above for full details, or request a free quote.
