Licensed Installers
Every installer operates under our active C-45 license (#999802). No subcontractors, no unlicensed labor, no shortcuts.
Our C-45 licensed installation crews handle every type of commercial sign at any height. From storefront channel letters to high-rise building signage, we bring the equipment, experience, and insurance to install your sign safely and to code.
Case-by-case — firm quote after we review your project.
Pricing is case-by-case. Every installation project is custom — sign type, mounting height, structure condition, access requirements — all affect cost. We provide a firm quote after a site visit or review of your existing signage.
Standard lead time is 2–3 weeks once scope is confirmed. Complex projects may add time; we tell you upfront.
Sign installation is far more than bolting metal to a wall. It involves electrical wiring, structural mounting on varied substrates, work at significant heights, and compliance with building codes that differ across every jurisdiction in Southern California. In the state of California, commercial sign installation legally requires a C-45 Electrical Sign Contractor license — and for good reason. An improperly installed sign can fall and cause injury or property damage. Incorrect electrical connections can cause fires. Inadequate mounting hardware can result in signs breaking free during Santa Ana winds or seismic events.
At Genius Signs & Lighting Corp, every installation is performed by our own C-45 licensed crew — never subcontracted to a general handyman or unlicensed installer. Our team carries Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Commercial Auto insurance. We provide certificates of insurance naming property owners and landlords as additionally insured, which is a standard requirement for commercial installations that unlicensed operations simply cannot satisfy.
Our license number is #999802, and we are happy to provide verification to any property owner, landlord, or general contractor who requests it. When you hire Genius Signs for installation, you are working with a company that has maintained an active, unblemished license for over 20 years in the state of California.
Our installation fleet includes boom trucks with bucket lifts reaching up to 80 feet, which covers the vast majority of commercial buildings across Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside. For taller structures, we coordinate crane rentals with certified crane operators. We carry all standard installation hardware and tools, including concrete anchoring systems, through-wall mounting brackets, masonry drill bits, welder-generators for field modifications, and conduit bending equipment for electrical runs.
For high-rise installations, our crew is experienced with rooftop rigging, swing stage operations, and the coordination required with building management for roof access, freight elevators, and loading dock scheduling. We have installed signage on buildings exceeding 20 stories throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and we maintain the safety certifications and equipment inspection records that building managers require before granting access.
We also maintain a fully equipped service truck that carries replacement LEDs, power supplies, electrical components, and common hardware so that minor field adjustments can be handled on installation day without delays. This level of preparation is what separates a professional installation operation from companies that subcontract their install work to day laborers.
Our installation team handles every type of commercial sign you will find on a building, along a roadway, or at a property entrance. Each type requires specific mounting techniques, structural considerations, and code compliance knowledge.
Channel letter installation involves drilling precise mounting points into the building facade, securing a raceway or individual letter studs, running electrical wiring, and connecting to the power supply. We mount channel letters on stucco, concrete, CMU block, steel, EIFS, and glass curtain wall systems. Each substrate requires a different anchoring approach, and our crew knows which fasteners, adhesives, and structural reinforcements each surface demands. Raceways are fabricated in our shop to exact measurements from the site survey, ensuring a clean, aligned installation with no gaps between the raceway and the building wall.
Depending on building requirements and landlord preferences, channel letters can be mounted on a raceway (a rectangular metal box that houses wiring) or individually mounted with studs directly into the wall. Raceway mounting is faster and requires fewer wall penetrations. Individual mounting creates a cleaner aesthetic with letters appearing to float on the building surface. We work with the landlord criteria and building code requirements to determine the best approach for each installation.
Pole signs and pylon signs require concrete foundations engineered to support the wind load, weight, and height of the structure. Our process begins with foundation excavation, rebar placement, anchor bolt setting, and concrete pouring. After the concrete cures for the required period (typically 5 to 7 days for full strength), we erect the steel pole or pylon structure, mount the sign cabinet, wire the internal illumination, and connect to the electrical service. Every pole and pylon installation includes engineered foundation plans stamped by a licensed structural engineer.
Monument signs are ground-level structures that require concrete foundations, steel reinforcement, and careful leveling. We handle the entire process from foundation excavation and forming to cabinet installation, stone or stucco cladding, and illumination wiring. Monument installations typically take 2 to 3 days including foundation curing time. We coordinate with landscapers and general contractors when the monument sign is part of a larger site improvement project.
Blade signs mount perpendicular to the building face, creating visibility from both directions along a sidewalk or roadway. These installations require heavy-duty brackets secured to structural elements within the wall, not just the surface material. Our crew locates studs, columns, or structural steel and uses through-bolt connections to ensure the blade sign can withstand wind loads without compromising the building envelope.
Safety is not optional on our installation sites. Every crew member wears appropriate PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and fall protection harnesses when working above 6 feet. We maintain current OSHA compliance and conduct toolbox safety talks before each installation. Our bucket trucks and equipment undergo regular safety inspections, and we keep inspection certificates on file for building management review.
Before every installation, we establish a safe work zone with traffic cones, caution tape, and spotters as needed. For installations requiring lane closures or sidewalk access restrictions, we coordinate with the city to obtain encroachment permits and arrange for traffic control as required. We carry adequate insurance for every scenario: General Liability ($2M aggregate), Workers Compensation, and Commercial Auto.
A sign is not legally installed until it passes final inspection by the local building department. We handle the entire permit process before installation begins, including engineering plans, structural calculations, and permit applications. On installation day, we install the sign to match the approved plans exactly. After installation, we schedule the final building inspection and are present on-site when the inspector arrives. Our installations pass inspection the first time because we build and install to the specifications that were already approved.
We know the sign permit requirements in every city across Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Riverside County. This local knowledge means fewer revision cycles, faster approvals, and no surprises on installation day. If your project requires a variance or conditional use permit, we handle that process too.
If you are replacing an existing sign, we provide complete removal and disposal as part of the installation service. This includes detaching the old sign, removing all mounting hardware, patching wall penetrations, repairing stucco or surface damage, and touch-up painting to match the existing building color. We use Mathews Paint for exact color matching on sign-adjacent surfaces, ensuring the new installation looks intentional and clean rather than like a replacement over old scars.
We properly dispose of or recycle old sign materials including aluminum, steel, acrylic, polycarbonate, and electrical components. If your old sign contains neon tubes, we handle proper disposal of the gas-filled glass tubes in accordance with environmental regulations.
Our crew arrives on-site with the completed sign, all mounting hardware, tools, and the appropriate lift equipment. The typical installation day follows this sequence: First, we lay out the sign position on the building using the approved engineering drawings and laser levels for precise alignment. Next, we drill mounting points and install anchors appropriate for the substrate. We then secure the sign structure — whether that is a raceway, individual letter studs, a monument cabinet, or a pole structure. After the sign is mechanically secured, we run electrical wiring from the sign to the power supply location, connect to the building’s electrical service, and test all illumination systems including timers and photocells.
After installation is complete, we clean the entire work area, remove all packaging, debris, and leftover materials, and walk the site with you for a final review. We photograph the completed installation from multiple angles for your records and ours, and we schedule the final building inspection within the week.
Every project is staffed by our own crew, equipped for any building, and built to pass inspection on the first try.
